For
All Patients:
FELV
(Feline Leukemia Virus) - annual
Over one million cats in the U.S are infected with this virus.
About 83% of those cats will die within 3 years. FeLV is transmitted
in saliva, respiratory secretions, feces and urine. The FeLV
vaccine is the best way to prevent your cat from contracting
this deadly disease.
FVRCPP
(Feline distemper, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Pneumonitis)
- annual
Feline distemper is a highly contagious viral disease which
causes diarrhea, vomiting and dehydration. The vaccine provides
excellent immunity against this highly fatal disease.
Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Pneumonitis are three upper
respiratory diseases. They are characterized by sneezing,
runny eves, coughing, gagging and salivation.
Rabies
Vaccination – triennial after 1 year of age
A viral disease transmitted mainly by bite wounds. Rabies,
in cats, is on the increase nationwide. For the protection
of your cat and the public we recommend all cats be vaccinated.
Intestinal
Parasite Examination - annual
A laboratory evaluation of a stool sample will ensure your
pet is maintained free of intestinal parasites.
FTLV (Feline aids virus) - as
advised by the Veterinarian
A viral infection transmitted mainly by bite wounds. One of
the many signs is chronic gum infections. This is a terminal
disease for which there is no vaccination at this time.
Comprehensive Physical Exam - annual
Includes an examination of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, teeth,
skin, hair coat, lymph nodes and abdomen. The heart and lungs
are evaluated with a stethoscope. The temperature is checked
and your questions about your pet are answered.
Dental
Health Care - as advised by the veterinarian
Your veterinarian may advise a dental scaling, polishing and
gum treatment under anesthesia, or if your cat’s teeth
are in good condition, he can recommend preventive measures
to keep them that way.
Diet
A complete, well balanced diet formulated for your cat’s
life stage or special nutritional needs. Your vet will be
happy to advise you on proper nutrition for your cat.
Spay
(Female)
We recommend spaying females at 6 months of age. This surgery
will help reduce the risk of mammary cancer, uterine disease
and other reproductive tract diseases in the future. It will
also eliminate heat periods and the possibility of unwanted
pregnancies. We feel spaying is a preventive health measure
and the responsible choice to make.
Neuter
(Male)
Neutering is a preventive health measure and the responsible
choice to make. In cats it will reduce
the frequency of cat fights and spraying.
For Cats Older than 8 Years of Age:
-
Blood Profile - annual
- Urinalysis - annual
- Dental Care - annual exam.
Many older pets need an annual cleaning and polish in addition
to routine cleaning at home and preventive measures.
